UNIONTOWN &045; The R.C. Hatch Bobcats, who are strong in basketball tradition, and has put together on of the best basketball programs in the state, get set to defend its eighth state championship.
Hatch has won three of the last four 2A championships. Last years feat was done under the guidance of first year coach Homer Davis.
The Bobcats, ranked No. 2, advanced to the sub-regionals after trouncing Southern Choctaw, 105-60, to improve its record to 20-4.
Moundville’s Hale County Wildcats will come to town to try their hand at dethroning the Bobcats in a sub-regional match up. Hale County will come into the game following a 61-32 loss to Pickens County in its area championship game last Monday.
The Wildcats will attempt to dominate inside with its post players, so Coach Davis wants to make sure that doesn’t happen.
The Bobcats seek to earn yet another trip to the regionals. This year’s regionals will be held in Montgomery at Alabama State’s Acudome.
