Two arrested for hotel robbery

DEMOPOLIS &045; Michael Lamar Bohannon, 28, and Kimberly Michelle Bohannon, 29, of 1975 Cyprus Cove in Forkland, were arrested by the Demopolis Police Department Tuesday for first-degree robbery.

The police department responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. from the Red Carpet Inn on U.S. Highway 80 East. The caller reported a robbery of an occupant of the inn.

Red Carpet Inn Manager George Esensay said the two individuals arrested by the department had stayed at the inn for two nights, prior to the robbery. He said the two had to be removed from their room after they were unable to pay their bill. He said the robbery occurred after they had been removed from their room.

When the police department arrived at the inn they were informed that a male and female armed with a handgun and a knife had robbed an occupant of the facility of an undisclosed amount of money.

The two individuals arrested by the police department were taken to the Marengo County Detention Center to await a bond hearing. As of press time, bond had not been set in the cases.
