Lady Tigers win classic

MOBILE &045; The 13th ranked Demopolis Lady Tiger soccer team return form the gulf over the weekend with the Cane Cup championship. They won all four games played and all of the games resulted in shutouts.
Three Lady Tigers walked away with MVP honors. Megan Keen received the honor as a forward; Molly Coplin took the award for the mid-fielders; and Rachel Walker was the honoree for the goalies.
Abby Coplin, Melanie Cherry, and Alyse Womack made the all-tournament team.
The first match was with 6A Baker, whom the Lady Tigers shutout, 3-0. Abby Coplin scored two of the three goals with Megan Keen and Fallon Keen each credited with an assist. M. Keen was the benefactor of the third goal, as Margaret Landerfelt got the assist.
Next up was against Citronelle, where Demopolis got the ball in the goal four times. Molly Coplin started things off with M. Keen getting the assist. M. Keen came right back to net the Lady Tiger’s second goal of the contest on a penalty kick.
Demopolis was not done yet, as Morgan Pope got in on the scoring with an assist from A. Coplin. Landerfelt followed with her second goal of the tourney to give the Lady Tigers a 4-0 win.
6A Baldwin County was next up to try its luck against the confident Demopolis team. The Lady Tigers would finish them off with its highest scoring game of the tournament. They stopped the Baldwin County Tigers 5-0.
In the fourth contest the Lady Tigers shutout Alma Bryant, 4-0.
