Vylener Braggs Travis
GREENSBORO &045; Vylener Braggs Travis, 65, of Greensboro died on Feb. 15, 2007 at Colonial Haven Care and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Greensboro with the Rev. J. L. Anderson officiating. Burial will be held in the Sarah Christian Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 7 p.m. on Friday at Washington&Paige Mortuary. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service time at the church. Washington&Paige Mortuary are in charge of the arrangements.
FORKLAND &045; Viola Benison, 51, of Forkland died on February 18, 2007 at her residence in Boligee. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. Clayborn May will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12 noon. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis are in charge of the arrangements.
Alice O. Threatt
FAUNSDALE &045; Alice O. Threatt, 59, of Faunsdale died on February 20, 2007 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Hunter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Faunsdale. The Rev. John Kennard will officiate. Interment will follow in First Baptist Cemetery in Faunsdale. The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12 noon. Larkin&Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis are in charge of the arrangements.
Marcus Tyvon &8220;P-Bug&8221; Carpenter
EUTAW &045; Marcus Tyvon &8220;P-Bug&8221; Carpenter, 24, of Eutaw died Feb. 16, 2007 in Hale from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Eutaw with the Rev. Mitch Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the mortuary and an hour prior to service time at the church.
DEMOPOLIS &045; H.S. &8220;Dan&8221; Gentry, 85, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Demopolis with Dr. Art Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors in charge of the services.
The Gentry family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
Gentry was a native of Meridian, Miss. and a resident of Demopolis the past 55 years and a retired employee of Gulf States Paper Mill after 24 years of service. Gentry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Demopolis and a World War II Navy veteran.
Gentry was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Thornton Gentry and Robert Gentry; his wife, Allie Price Gentry and one brother, James O. Gentry.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer G. Clem and husband, Jimbo of Demopolis; two sons, Dan Price Gentry and his wife, Melissa, Stephen Parker Gentry and his wife, Debra, all of Greensboro; one sister, Jean Bailey and husband Roy of Lauderdale, Miss.; one brother, Robert Lee Gentry and wife, Earnestine of Albany, Ga.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Adam Gentry, Josh Gentry, Lloyd Eicher, Robbie Rose, Michael Kane and Freddie Padilla.
