Demopolis tennis continues to improve

DEMOPOLIS &045; This season’s Demopolis High School tennis teams have a goal to advance further in postseason play according to third year coach Dana Hill. They have reached the sectionals in each of the last three years.

They won 70 percent of its matches last season.

Six boys and six girls will be seeded to compete at every match. Three doubles matches are also included in each competition.

The team is larger this year versus past seasons. It consists of 12 boys and 13 girls.

Molly Coplin, the only senior on the team, girls or boys, will play a huge role on this year’s squad.

Sydney Hill, Jeannie Campbell, Drew Tucker, Walker McNeil, and John Mark Boland will also be counted on to make a difference on the courts this year.

In tennis the teams are divided into sectionals. Demopolis will compete in 5A Section 5.

The other teams included in the Section 5 are, Chilton County, Gardendale, McAdory, Pleasant Grove, Ramsay, and Walker.

Demopolis first match of the season will be at Selma on March 14. The first home match will be two days later on the 16th when they face Jemison.
