Margaret &8216;Margie’ Whitfield Braswell

DEMOPOLIS &045; Margaret &8220;Margie&8221; Whitfield Braswell, 89, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at her home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis with the Rev. Aaron Raulerson officiating. Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors of Demopolis will be directing.

Survivors include a daughter, Marie Ars Barksdale of Oxford, Miss.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

George Howell Strange III

DEMOPOLIS &045; George Howell Strange III, 65, died Monday, February 26, 2007 at DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Demopolis with burial following in Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors of Demopolis will be in charge of the arrangements.

Alice Owens-Threatt

FAUNSDALE &045; Alice Owens-Threatt, 59, of Faunsdale died on Feb. 20, 2007 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Hunters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Faunsdale. The Rev. John Kennnard officiated.

Interment followed in First Baptist Cemetery in Faunsdale. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements. Threatt was employed at Vanity Fair for over 25 years and was currently employed at Southern Pride Catfish.

Her mother, Mary Etta Owens; her father, James Witherspoon and one sister, Samantha Owens, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Threatt of Faunsdale; five children, Joseph Threatt Jr. and his wife, Angela of Rock Hill, N.Y; Kenneth Threatt of Tuscaloosa, Timothy Threatt of Jeffersonville, N.Y; Marietta Bryant and her husband, Farold of Newbern and Alicia Faison and her husband, Daniel of Goldsboro, N.C; nine grandchildren; six siblings, Ida Martin and her husband, Howard of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Lacey and her husband, Jimmy of South Fallsburg, N.Y., Shirley Witherpoon and her husband, David of Port Huron, Mich., Eloise Turnbow of Cleveland, Ohio, Henry Witherspoon and his wife, Leila of Port Huron, Mich. And Robert Witherspoon of Texas; a step-mother, Minnie Witherspoon of Port Huron, Mich.; step-father, Louis Owens Jr. of Liberty, N.Y. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viola Benison

BOLIGEE &045; Viola Benison, 51, of Boligee formerly of Forkland died on Feb.18, 2007 in Boligee. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. Clayborn May officiated.

Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a companion, Allen Shepherd of Boligee; one son, Nathan Benison and his wife, Bernetha of Forkland; 14 grandchildren; six sisters, Emma Benison of Demopolis, Elizabeth Powell and husband, Joe of Eutaw, Juanita James, Nellie Biggs and husband, Robert, Bobbie J. Benison and Mary V. Williams, all of Forkland; two brothers, Gary M. Benison of Forkland and George Benison of Bessemer.

Cynthia Paige-Dorsey

CLEVELAND, Ohio &045; Cynthia Paige-Dorsey, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Demopolis died on February 24, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis.
