Lady Tigers untarnished

DEMOPOLIS &045; The start of the 2007 soccer season has been a big success for the No. 6 ranked Demopolis Lady Tigers, thus far. The Lady Tigers seek a return to post season play, where they have participated the last three years. To start this season have won its first eight games and have recorded shut outs in the first seven games.
They dumped Tuscaloosa Central 10-0 and also shut down Tuscaloosa County 5-0. Abby Coplin finished with a total of seven goals and Megan Keen totaled four goals in the two games.
Last Tuesday the Lady Tigers defeated Chelsea 2-1 in an area match up. Senior Abby Coplin scored both goals for Demopolis, with senior Megan Keen and junior Morgan Pope getting an assist each.
The boy’s soccer team sports a record of 4-5 have already matched its win total of last season.
They split the two games with the Tuscaloosa schools. They beat Tuscaloosa Central, 6-1, as junior Rob Cooke netted three goals, and fell to Tuscaloosa County, 6-4. Eighth grader Jacob Roeman came away with two goals in the game.
The Tigers came up short in Tuesday’s game against Chelsea, 4-2. Cooke was credited for both goals.
Demopolis will be back on the field tomorrow when they face No. 2 ranked John Carroll Catholic in Birmingham.
