LINDEN &045; A second accident involving from a fall from a roof at the Linden Lumber Company has prompted an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

While the first accident lead to an investigation of Linden Lumber, the newest accident caused by a fall will lead to an investigation of two subcontracting companies. J&M Construction and Fabrication Co. was subcontracting a job from Linden Lumber and in turn subcontracted the job to Carpenter Construction.

The accident occurred Friday Feb. 16 and an ambulance was called to carry the victim to the hospital. The victim’s name has yet to be released. No further information on the status of the victim was known at time of press.

Funke said that, though the two incidents occurred at the same location and both injuries were caused in a similar way, OSHA is treating them as unrelated. Funke said the reason they aren’t connected is that the two workers were under the supervision of separate companies.

Funke said the victim of the second incident was not killed by the accident, which would have caused OSHA to respond immediately and open and investigation.

Funke said the first accident that occurred on Dec. 15 and lead to the death of Ronny Pritchett, who was an employee of Linden Lumber, is still under investigation by OSHA, though he suspects it will be drawing to a close soon. He said once the investigation is complete OSHA’s findings will be issued to the company and can be viewed by the public.
