Curly Atkins

FORKLAND &045; Curly Atkins, 73, of Forkland died on March 10, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Old Green Oak Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. James Todd

officiated. Interment followed in Hunters Chapel Cemetery in Faunsdale. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

He was married to Emma Gracie.

He had one son, Curtis Atkins Jr., who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Emma G. Atkins of Demopolis; a daughter, Georgia and her husband, the Rev. James Todd of Demopolis; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Joanna Smith of Faunsdale and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and numerous friends.

Mattie Smith- Wilson

DEMOPOLIS &045; Mattie Smith- Wilson, 86, of Demopolis died on March 10, 2007 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the New Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis. The Rev. Willie Williams officiated.

Interment followed in Mount Zion #2 Baptist Cemetery in Demopolis. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

In 1940, she married the late Jim Smith Jr. They had four children. In 1971, her daughter, Millie Lee Adams preceded her in death.

In 1979, she married Gabe Wilson Sr.

They had three children.

In 1973, her son, Carl P. Wilson preceded her in death.

She dedicated her life to Mount Zion #2 Baptist Church and more than 56 years with the New Morning Star Baptist Church where she served as active member of the choir, nurses guild, Order of Eastern Star and mother of the church.

She is survived by three sons, Jim Smith Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Dr. Charles J. Smith Sr. and wife, Susie of Augusta, Ga. and James Smith and wife, Nancy of Demopolis; two daughters, Ruby L. Smith-Jami of Charlotte, N.C. and Scheryl J. Brown of Demopolis; three sisters, Lucille Matthews and Willa Wilson both of Detroit and Alice L. White of Chicago; 37 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Richard Watson

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. &045; Richard Watson,

of Farmington Hills, Mich., formerly of Forkland died on March 7, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Springhill Baptist Church in Boligee. The Rev. Willie Gaines is pastor.

The Rev. Richard White was the eulogist. Interment followed in Succanoochie Cemetery in Boligee. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

Watson served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

He was employed at Chrysler Assembly Lynch Road Plant for 31 years and retired as a Foreman in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John R. Watson and two sisters, Bertha Watson and Vinnie R. Jennings.

Survivors include two children, James E. Watson and Delores G. Harrison of Detroit; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six sisters, Lillie Williams, Emma Speight, Annie Randolph and husband, Lewis, Lula Brunson and husband, Herman, Mozell Chappell and husband, Mose and Sara Striplin; one brother, Levert Watson and wife, Severe; one aunt, Mary Anthony of Forkland and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Frank Maiden Jr.

TUSCALOOSA &045; Frank Maiden Jr., 48, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Gallion died on March 14, 2007 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday,

March 17, 2007 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Allenville. The Rev. James R. Murdock was the eulogist. Interment followed in Allenville Cemetery in Allenville. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his parents, Frank Sr. and Mary Maiden of Gallion; a wife, Shirley Maiden of Greensboro; three daughters, La’Shirl, Lonnie and Kimberly Maiden; two sons, Frank Maiden III and Jeffery Maiden; three grandchildren; four brothers, Jimmie Winters and wife, Doria, Andrew Maiden, Michael Maiden and Earnest Maiden and wife, Teresa and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Hattie Purse Hinton

DEMOPOLIS &045; Hattie Purse Hinton, of Demopolis died recently at her residence in Demopolis. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Demopolis. The Rev. Honoree Lockett will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis. The remains will repose at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Public viewing will be held Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis were in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Pruitt, Willia Tate and Ada Ball, all of Demopolis and Geneva Jackson and husband, Willie of Los Angeles; two sons, James Scott of Roswell, Ga. and Wayman Scott and wife, Delores of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Mary Sams and Inez Branch of Demopolis; a brother, the Rev. James Purse and wife, Clara of Demopolis; 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

GREENSBORO &045; Tammy Renee Latham Henry, 35, of Greensboro died on Wed., March 21, 2007, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at Greensboro Baptist Church on at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007. Interment will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery with the Kirk Funeral Home of Greensboro in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

Funeral services will be at Bay Springs Amerzion Church in Greensboro at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Burial will be held in Burroughs Family Cemetery in Greensboro.
