DEMOPOLIS &045; This afternoon the Demopolis High School baseball team will venture south of Marengo County to battle the Sweet Water Bulldogs.

The Tigers have been off for a few days for spring break. They will be coming off last weekend losses to Hoover and Prattville.

County match ups are always considered big games and the Bulldogs have regularly played Demopolis tough.

Stacy Luker has taken over the coaching job at the county school.

Sweet Water has beaten Wilcox Central twice this season, which is one of the Tigers area foes. The Bulldogs are coming off a three-team doubleheader, which includes games against St, Jude and Selma, and has a 5-6 record prior to those games.

The varsity team will start at 3 p.m. after the JV team completes its 1 p.m. game.

The Tigers hope to improve on its 4-10 record before its area doubleheader Saturday. Demopolis will host Wilcox Central.
