The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s recent preliminary decisions on what language it may ask voters to approve as a comprehensive solution to the region’s air transportation needs put Mayor Jerry Sanders in the spotlight last week.
The authority appears to be settling on language that would give elected officials like Sanders a type of mandate from voters to seek a new airport at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
Sanders said he couldn’t support the language as the airport authority had written it and that he would remain neutral in the lead up to November’s election.
But don’t take it from us. Hear him, in his own words.
