Lydia Douglas Lloyd

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Lydia Douglas Lloyd, 88, of Demopolis died on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at her home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at The First Baptist Church of Demopolis with Dr. Rex Kent and the Rev. A.L. Courtney officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis with Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors in charge of the arrangements.

Lloyd was a native of Petal, Miss. and a resident of Demopolis for 60 years, where she was a member of The First Baptist Church of Demopolis. Lloyd was a graduate of The University of Alabama with a post-graduate degree in medical technology. Lloyd was a member of the Chatauqua Club, 21 Luncheon Club served as a board member on the Alabama State Arts Council, and supported the girl scouts where she served as a troop leader. She was a longtime supporter of the arts in Demopolis and most recently involved with the Two Rivers Art Council.

Lloyd&8217;s parents, Emery Douglas and Eunice Nall Douglas Taylor preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Hugh Adams Lloyd Sr. of Demopolis; three daughters, Kathryn Lloyd Allen of Hartwell, Ga., Sally Lloyd Proctor and her husband, Charles of Paducah, Kent., Elizabeth Lloyd Goodman and her husband, Thomas of Greenwood, Miss.; one son, Hugh Adams Lloyd Jr. and his wife, Laurie of Spanish Fort; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Edward Goodman, Charles Main Proctor, Benjamin Lloyd Proctor, John Hartman Proctor, Albert Ayers Forrester and Hugh Adams Lloyd III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Southern Care Hospice, Hugh Lloyd Sunday School Class, Lloyd&Dinning LLC and Associates.
