OUR VIEW: Quick search puts team in good position to win

Thanks to the quick search for a head football coach led by Demopolis High School principal Dr. Isaac Espy, the Tigers are in a good position to enter spring drills and summer practice as they prepare to return to championship form.
Tom Causey, the former head coach at Andalusia High School, will bring a high-powered offensive strategy to the Tigers. They will rely on speed as they look to mix up their running and passing games.
On defense, Causey has nothing out of the ordinary for high school football, but look for a mobile defensive line and a lot of excitement at the linebacker position.
All of this will work itself out in the coming weeks and months, leading right up to opening day this fall.
For now, what is important is that Causey and his family &8212; his wife, Tamara Lynn, and his two daughters, Anna Grace and Kelsey Lou &8212; are becoming a part of the Demopolis family. He has reportedly already toured the schools where his daughters will attend.
Back to the gridiron, Causey brings experience and energy to the team. At Dallas County and Andalusia, Causey was a turn-around agent. He took struggling teams and led them to the playoffs. His work earned him the Coach of the Year honor in 2006 for 4A football.
In Demopolis, he inherits a team who knows what it means to win. While the Tigers were young last year, they are battle-tested in tough games and have gotten a taste of the playoffs. Unlike his previous stings, Causey now gets to build on the solid foundation left by Doug Goodwin.
Causey will meet his players and the general public on Thursday. We encourage everyone to show their support.
