DEMOPOLIS &045; After meeting with their new football coach last week members of the Demopolis High School football team seem eager to get to work on their upcoming season.
Coach Tom Causey came and spoke to the players on his first trip back to Demopolis after being hired as the new coach and athletic director. His address to players seems to have left a mark on a bunch hoping for someone to come in and continue the tradition of excellent football for which the school has gain a reputation.
Causey threw no punches in his address to the players, but he definitely got their attention with his focus on character and grades. He told players that they represent the school, coaching staff and community through their actions, for which they must take responsibility.
Causey’s talk of building a national football dynasty and winning multiple state championships also seems to have grabbed the attention of players in a group where only aspiring seniors have tasted a state championship. He instilled that winners can be willed through hard work and discipline, recanting the history of the school.
It seems Causey’s gung-ho speech about what the school has accomplished and hoping to take it to the next level has emboldened his upcoming group of athletes. His frank style seems to have won over the hearts of several players.
