DEMOPOLIS &8212; On May 3 the Demopolis Board of Education formally hired the first new edition to the Demopolis High School coaching staff, Brian Seymour, since the arrival of new head football coach and athletic director Tom Causey.

Seymour, who will be the new defensive coordinator of the team, follows Causey from Andalusia, where he held the same position. He brings with him wife Nicholas, 5-year-old Mary Taylor, 4-year-old Drew and 7-month-old Maggie.

Seymour and Causey definitely have had time to adjust to one another during their time together. Seymour said his father coached Causey during high school so, the two have known each for many years.

It was during the two coaches first stint at Dallas together that Seymour said they fist implement the 4-2-5 defense that was the blueprints for the scheme they will run at Demopolis. He said prior to the change they had run a 4-3 cover four defense, but this new defense allowed the team to give a lot more looks to opposing offenses.

Seymour said after he and Causey first coached together and went their separate ways it was another two years before he moved down from head coaching to spend more time with his family and reunited with Causey at Andalusia. After a year at defensive coordinator there, Seymour has found himself moving once again, this time to coach at Demopolis.

Seymour said he expects his new team will adjust quickly to their new roles in the 4-2-5 scheme. As for a head coaching position, he said it might be a possibility down the road, but for know he enjoys where he is at and what he is doing.
