DEMOPOLIS &8212; Players, family, friends and coaches piled into the Demopolis High School cafeteria yesterday evening as the baseball team held its awards ceremony for the season they had just wrapped up.

The group started slow but made adjustments later on to put themselves in a position to go to the playoffs. After dropping the first several games the group made a run, winning several in a row to bolster their record and toppling some big teams on the way.

Moody started the award ceremony with individuals that are not on the team rooster but have contributed to the team through their works. He recognized Demopolis Baseball Booster Club president Donnie Cannon for his help for the duration of the season. Dr. Rex Kent was also given an award for his work as the Voice of the Tigers, calling the games from the press box.

Moody followed up the presentation of awards to Cannon and Kent, by jumping into the awards for his players and their works throughout the season. Brandon Burrell was recognized for having the strongest bat on the Tiger bench, putting up the strongest bating average on the team. David Kent, who moved to round two of the East-West All-Star game this week, was recognized as the best pitcher for the Demopolis group.

Player shad their own award to bestow as they voted on the teammate they thought should hold the Captain&8217;s title for the season. Results found a three-way tie amongst David Kent, Brandon Burrell and Kyle Thrasher.

Moody wrapped up his comments for the evening with a nod to those not on the field: &8220;thanks to the parents and the school personnel for all their help.&8221;
