Shows steps down from IDB

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Jay Shows, executive secretary for the Demopolis Industrial Development Board (IDB) will be stepping down from this position.
Shows a self-employed businessman, took the IDB position when the Board was in need of assistance.
Shows said as an entrepreneur his interests have always been in his motel projects and business opportunities.
It wasn&8217;t a few months following, that the former director of the IDB moved away and the Board asked Shows to step into the position.
Shows said that although he has devoted much of his time to the IDB as the executive secretary he has continued working on his motel projects.
Shows said he has been pleased with the development of major industry in the area.
Shows said the Board also has things on their two to five-year plan that are coming up that will be good for the Board. He said he is especially pleased with the Board and the city&8217;s cooperation with this plan.
Laney said he has been pleased with the work Shows has done for the IDB.
The search
Laney said the Board and city officials evaluated the position and came to the conclusion that the position would need to remain a full-time position.
Laney said the Board is establishing a search committee comprised of IDB members and city officials to find a candidate suitable for the Board&8217;s needs.
Laney said he feel like the Board would have full support of the council on the Board&8217;s plans for recruitment.
Laney said Johnny Wallace was appointed chairman of the search committee.
