Omni wins 11-, 12-year-old Cal Ripken tournament

DEMOPOLIS &8212; In the final match-up of the 11- and 12-year-old Cal Ripken League tournament, the Omni Sports team beat out the Trager groups to remain undefeated in the tourney and grab first place honors.

The Omni group had an impressive regular season, entering the tournament 13-2-1, before sweeping post season play with its, 10-0, victory over the Trager group. The Trager team made a long fun into the tournament after falling into the loser&8217;s bracket, eventually meeting with Omni in what became the final game of the double elimination tournament.

Omni pitcher Rob Boutwell pitched three innings giving up only two hits, no runs and striking out three batters. Payne Hasty finished the game for Omni by striking out all three of the final hitters in the fourth inning.

For Omni, Payne Hasty went 3-3, William Tutt went 2-2 with a homerun and Rob Boutwell, Mathew Davis

and Rob McCarter all picked up hits. All Omni players reached base and seven of 10 scored runs

Trager players Logan Boone and Darius Zanders both had hits.
