The Demopolis Public Library and the Rural Assistance Program for Churches and Schools hosted the second annual Juneteenth Program and Health Fair held yesterday at the library.
The program is the brain-child of Mary Fitts-Jones, said Constance (Connie) Lawson, circulation librarian.
Lawson said Jones introduced her to the idea of the program, and she incorporated it into the Adult Library program.
Lawson said the celebration has grown in popularity throughout the years and is even more popular in the northern states.
Lawson said the program included a health fair this year to provide people with knowledge of cultural health risks.
