DEMOPOLIS &8212; Two “grease ponds” were reportedly the source of a rampant fire late Friday evening.

Fire fighters from the Demopolis Fire Department responded to the blazing ponds and tried to contain it from spreading into surrounding wooded areas.

The blaze billowed black smoke and could be seen from miles away.
