Workshop explores business plans

DEMOPOLIS &8212; People interested in starting their own business and those who have interest in the know-how to properly develop a business will be offered insight to fulfill their needs during a workshop themed, &8220;How to Start a Small Business.&8221;

The workshop hosted by the Small Business Development Center at the University of West Alabama and the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Rooster Hall in Demopolis.

Beasley said the workshop will include a PowerPoint presentation, which will cover topics including: the role of the University of West Alabama SBDC; the reason to go into business; the reason for business failure; the need for planning; the ways of entering into business; legal forms; business regulations, the need to develop a business plan; the purpose and components of a business plan and how to secure funding.

The SBDC provides workshops throughout the five counties they serve, Sumter, Choctaw, Marengo, Wilcox and Clarke counties.

Beasley noted a specific workshop, her department is hosting, geared to developing a restaurant business.

She said this will be the first workshop the SBDC has held in Demopolis.
