Ordrie Eugene &8220;Gene&8221; Johnson
GREENSBORO &8212; Ordrie Eugene (Gene) Johnson, 75, of Greensboro, died July 30, 2007 at his residence in Greensboro. Funeral services for Eugene Johnson are set for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at Greensboro Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The Revs. Dee McGuire and Bill Richards will officiate and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
He was devoted to preaching and teaching the Word of God. He shared his testimony with others. He pastured churches in Hale County, and at the time of his death, he was the teacher of the Upper Room at Greensboro Baptist Church. He owned and operating Gene&8217;s Repair Shop in Greensboro for the past 46 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ordrie Ellison Johnson, and mother, Rozzie Pate Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Thomas Johnson; one daughter, Dianne J. Colburn and her husband, Marty, of Greensboro; two sons, Terrell E. Johnson and wife, Judy of Moundville and Dennis R. Johnson and wife, Georgette, of Akron; five sisters, Lorene Lyles and husband, Webster, of Moundville, Mae Johnson of Demopolis, Betty S. Thomas and husband, Frederick, of Greensboro, Nell Andrews and husband, Bob, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Louise Wolfe and husband, Bob of Milton, Fla.; one brother, Aulton Johnson and wife, Mary Glynn, of Greensboro and six grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Larry Hughen, John Ordie McPherson, David Lynn Johnson, John Thomas, Ken Wolfe, Greg Wolfe, Bruce Thomas, Bob Thomas, Bill Thomas and Allan Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were the Upper Room Sunday School Class, Olin Lee, Pat Johnson, Scott Davis, Lamar Hall Jr., Jimmie Lee Matthews, Frank Wilkerson, Rogers Perry, the Rev. Jimmy Fields, Jimmy Scott, second, sixth and fifth floor nurses at DCH, TSICU Nurses and staff, Dr. Larry Skelton, Dr. Bilton, Dr. Salinas, Hale County Hospital, Hale County Home Health and Hale County EMS.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greensboro Baptist Church, 908 Main St., Greensboro, AL, 36744.
Elizabeth J. Morgan
PLANT CITY, Fla. &8212; Elizabeth J. Morgan, 71, of Plant City, Fla. died July 28, 2007 at Community Convalescent Center. Funeral services for Morgan are set for 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at Hoboken Baptist Church in Sweet Water. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church.
Survivors include his sons. Burl Morgan, III of Plant City, Fla. and Johnny Lee Morgan of Maryland, three brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.
Maurice Spencer
FORKLAND &8212; Maurice Spencer, 32, of Forkland died on July 28, 2007 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Larkin&Scott Funeral directors of Demopolis.
He is the son of Sally Spencer of Forkland and Hardis and wife, Catherine Washington of Forkland.
