DEMOPOLIS &8212; College football fans across the state know Thursday nights are the time to tune their radios to hear their team&8217;s coach talk about his program&8217;s performance during the season and relate to listeners the steps being taken to prepare for upcoming match ups.
Beginning next week, area high school football fans will have the chance to hear from the leaders of their favorite teams about the same subjects in a radio format. WIN 98 will partner with Batter&8217;s Up in Demopolis to host a radio high school coaches&8217; show at the restaurant called the &8220;Pepsi Cola Coaches Show&8221; on Tuesday nights.
Pearson said the show will bring commentary on the football programs of approximately 25 schools from the region. Sean Parker, one of the founders of the show with WIN 98, said he hopes to cover all the schools in the radio station&8217;s listening area.
Parker said Pearson has sent letters to all coaches in the region to make them aware of the venue to speak to their school&8217;s fans. After the planning dinner with coaches set later this week, he said the show is set to start next Tuesday.
Petrey said he became involved in the project approximately a month ago, and Parker said Pearson approached him about the show earlier in the summer. Parker said Pearson wanted to base the show&8217;s format on a previous radio program in the area that had since quit airing.
Pearson said while he is hosting, the coaches are the real stars of the upcoming show. He said he hopes to have between 10 to 15 schools a show and have coaches talk about issues from previous games, to preparation for upcoming games to what ever other subjects the coaches think is pertinent for the school&8217;s fans to know.
