Player of the week: Jacob Kerby

Under the helm of head coach Tom Causey, the Demopolis Tigers are implementing an ambitious offense for a high school group, which if properly executed is quite difficult to contain.

Running a spread option, which calls for adjustments both prior to and after the snap, the group will rely heavily on the decision making of senior quarterback Jacob Kerby to counteract the opposing defense.

Causey said Kerby stepped up during spring and summer practices and picked up the offense he and his coaching staff have been working to set in place, winning the starting quarterback position. He said the group is still working to fully learn all of the various facets of the offense, of which the group has been exposed to approximately 75 percent.

The decision of which of the three threats is most conducive to moving the offense will rest partially, if not fully, on the shoulders of Kerby, so his understanding of the offensive concept will be crucial to the group&8217;s production this season.
