Town Hall Meeting set for tonight

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Rep. A.J. McCampbell, D-Demopolis, will speak at Rooster Hall at 6 p.m. tonight at a Town Hall meeting hosted by the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.

Since being elected to the state house of representatives 11 months ago, McCampbell said this is one of many meetings held to discuss community issues. McCampbell held his first town hall meeting in Sumter County last month.

According to Kelley Smith, president of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber was asked to chair a planning committee to host McCampbell&8217;s first town hall meeting in Marengo County because they promote countywide interests.

Members of the planning committee include Ann Hunter, Joanne Merriweather, Andy Renner and Cecil P. Williamson.

McCampbell said one of the goals for the meeting is discuss

the last legislative session along with the hopes for the upcoming session for residents of the community. After his remarks, McCampbell said he would open the session for questions.

Most recently, McCampbell was involved with securing funds from the state to improve the schools in his district. He said he will most likely make remarks on these bond issue funds and what they can be used for in the schools.

McCampbell represents the 71st district, which includes Greene, Marengo, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
