SWEET WATER &8212; For the second week in a row the Sweet Water Bulldogs will play host Friday night to their state playoff opponent, Maplesville High School.

Last week the &8217;Dogs crushed Wadley 39-7, while the Red Devils made the first of two visits to Marengo County this month, moving to the semifinals with a 34-24 win over Linden High School.

Coming into the final game of the playoffs before a trip to Legion Field for the Super 6, both teams are undefeated and both have a history of playoff results, though the Bulldogs won out in the same scenario last year. In what could almost be dubbed &8220;the sate championship game&8221; Sweet Water head coach Stacy Luke knows his team is heading to battle.

At this point of the playoffs, all remaining teams are tough, but Luker said the red Devils are also a complete team &8212; passing, rushing, bringing guys in the box and covering the air attack.

One of the biggest single threats from Maplesville Luker is looking at is senior quarterback Marcus Wilson. Luker said Wilson is a duel threat quarterback, who can beat you with his production in the ground as well as with his arm through the air. And Wilson isn&8217;t the only threat.

Luker said the defense is likely more intimidating because of returning players than the Maplesville offense. A great unit last year, the Red Devil defense is familiar with one another and have a ton of experience to draw on, including experience in big games in the playoffs.
