Breaking News: Smith sentenced to 10 years

Terrence Lavell Smith, a former Demopolis police officer convicted on two counts of rape of a 13-year-old girl, was sentenced to serve 10 years of jail time for each charge to be served concurrently, Judge Eddie Hardaway announced Monday.
Jim Parkman, Smith’s attorney, verbally filed for an appeal of Smith’s case. A third charge of rape, which the jury was hung on during the trial, will be addressed once an appeal has been considered, District Attorney Greg Griggers said.
