THOMASTON &045; They say it&8217;s in the water, but based on last night&8217;s game, that can&8217;t be true. Despite their recent win of the state championship in football, Sweet Water&8217;s Lady &8216;Dawgs couldn&8217;t seem to get the juices flowing last night in the low-scoring battle at A.L. Johnson against the Eagles.

The first half was nail-biting, as the two teams raced from end to end keeping the score in range for anyone to take the victory. Holding on by one point at the half, the Lady &8216;Dawgs still had a chance. However, within the first three minutes of the third period, the Lady Eagles took flight.

The Eagles went on to score 16 points in the second half and once their scoring drive started, it didn&8217;t end till the final buzzer when A.L. Johnson took the victory 28-14.

Eighth-grader Ashley Edwards led A.L. Johnson in points with 17 on the night.

The Lady Eagles will land in Bulldog territory this Thursday to battle it out on Sweet Water&8217;s home court. Look for the results in Friday&8217;s edition of The Times.
