MARION &8212; Frances Proctor Hammond, 83, died Jan. 5, 2008, in Marion. Funeral services were set for 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2008, at the Marion United Methodist Church with Dr. Larry Teasley officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing. Interment followed in Palmetto at the Unity Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was born March 18, 1924, in Pickens County to John and Mary Alice Young Proctor. She was a music teacher for 35 years.

Hammond is survived her husband, William W. Hammond, of Marion, three daughters, Edith Bates of Birmingham, Carolyn McKenzie and husband, William, of Gulf Shores and Vicki Jones and husband, Richard, of Brewton, one son, William W. Hammond Jr. of Birmingham, two sisters, Margaret Blair, of Knoxville, Tenn. and Carolyn Millman of Panama City, Fla.
