DEMOPOLIS &8212; After a rough night making adjustments Tuesday against Livingston High School, the Demopolis High School girls&8217; team rebounded Wednesday night with great adjustments to shut down Sunshine High School on the way to a 56-39 victory.

The two groups jumped out in the game with gloves off &8212; Demopolis looking for redemption and Sunshine looking for confirmation of their ranking. Lead by Shafontaye Myers and her hot hand behind the three-point arch, Sunshine came out of the first quarter up 19-11.

Pittman and his group adjusted their man-to-man defense and moved to a four-man-zone, while leaving a player free to shadow Myers and shut down the spark of the Sunshine offense. The plan worked, and Myers, who shot 11 points in the first quarter, was limited to two points in the second, though Sunshine headed to the half up 21-20.

The Demopolis Lady Tigers stayed in their makeshift defense in the second half, though Sunshine made some adjustments in the third to get 14 points of offensive production without their 10th-grade phenom, Myers. But Demopolis, too, made offensive adjustments and began clicking on all cylinders &8212; picking up 20 points into the third and 16 in the final period in which they held Sunshine to only four.

I like the intensity I saw tonight heading into the playoffs.&8221;

Leading the Demopolis Tiger production were Jasmine Hardy with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Jasmine Simmons with 14 points and Valissa Sams with 11 points.

For Sunshine, Myers only added three more in the second half to end the game with 16 points, while Johnquesha Childs contributed 10.
