SWEET WATER &045; Elsie Whatley, Jr., 76, of Sweet Water, died Feb. 3, 2008 at Infinity Hospice in Meridian, Miss. Graveside funeral services were held at Geneva Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Revs. Randall Smith and Branch President Jimmy Roberts officiating.
He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Clay County. He was a retired millwright.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine H. Whatley, and one brother, Otis Whatley.
Whatley is survived by one son, Terry W. Whatley, and wife, Theresa, of Sweet Water; one daughter, I. Dyann Dube, and husband, Steve, of Tolland, Conn.; one sister, Gladys Willingham, of Anniston; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Steve Caudle, Roger Irvin, Bobby Noland, J.D. Tindell, Jimmy Roberts, Tom Sessions and Sonny Barger. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, great grandson, and co-workers. O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed.
