DEMOPOLIS &8212; James Keith &8220;Jimmy&8221; Phillips, 77, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Art Luckie officiating. Interment will follow at Phillips Cemetery in Forkland with full military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard. Kidd-Robbins Funeral directors will direct the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Phillips was born July 8, 1930, in Forkland. He retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and also retired from Operating Engineers, Local 312. In his latter years, he served as a Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church and Pastor of the Gainsville Charge and a member of Forkland United Methodist Church. Phillips was a lover of all nature, and an avid sportsman.

His daughter, Debra K. Allred, his grandson, J.J. Kinkella, his father, Julian K. Phillips and his brother, Charles E. Phillips, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Zoie Gandy Phillips, of Demopolis; four daughters, Lynn London, Sandy Arnold and husband, Paul, Connie McPherson and husband, Mike, all of Demopolis and Diana Smith and husband, Larry, of Missouri City, Texas; his mother, Bessie Love and his sister, Carolyn Stephens, both of McIntyre, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Allgood, Willie Allgood, Ralph Allgood, Gary Phillips, Kenny Phillips and Matthew Phillips.
