MONTGOMERY &8212; As the Demopolis High School Lady Tigers took the court in a 38-23 setback Tuesday on the campus of Alabama State University in Montgomery, they couldn&8217;t seem to get the ball moving in the first quarter.

The Ramsay High School Rams went on top to start things off, but the Lady Tigers were quick to respond with their own mark from Jasmine Simmons.

As the Tigers headed into the second period, the Rams led 13-5.

In the second quarter, the Lady Tigers were able to move the ball down the court with a bit more ease than they were able to in the first.

The problem wasn&8217;t so much moving the ball, but making the crucial shots after the ball was in position.

As the ladies hit the locker rooms at the half, the Rams still held the lead at 20-11. The Tigers were able to muster up only six points in the second period.

The Tigers had trouble finding the net in the third period of play. A field goal from Shay Smith and a free throw from Valissa Sams advanced the score to 14-26, but the Tigers seemed to not narrow the lead any more than that.

Late in the fourth, three Tigers were able to put up three-pointers. Jasmine Simmons, Loreal Moore, and Kierra Carter found the basket from behind the arch.

Leading the Lady Tigers in points was Jasmine Simmons with eight points followed by Valissa Sams with five.
