Tiger Tennis topples Tuscaloosa County

TUSCALOOSA &045; Demopolis won 14 of its 24 matches against Tuscaloosa County High School Tuesday night to move to 2-2 on the season.
On the girls’ side three Tigers won singles matches. Hillary Stapp defeated Madison Eads 8-6 while Alexa Beech beat Anna Beth Fuller 8-7. Meredith Price pulled the 6-3 victory over Bailey Johnson.
Girls’ doubles saw three DHS teams pull out wins as Annie Jones and Katie Boland prevailed 8-5 over Johnson and Molly Lisenby. Beech teamed with Corey Gross to drop Hannah Windle and Tia Dunn. Anna Low and Shamoneka Collins landed the win against Carra Barnes and Brolin Boykin. Each of those matches ended 6-2.
The boys’ draw featured Parker Coleman’s 8-1 winner against Dustin Bybee and John Mark Boland’s 8-4 victory over Andrew Johnson. John Davis got the 6-2 win over Justin Elliott while Andrew Gwin beat Justin Sullivan 6-1.
The doubles on the boys’ side witnessed Boland and his partner, Hugh Scarbrough, pull their second straight win with an 8-5 victory over Preston Jacobs and Will Wyatt. Coleman teamed with Markell Smith to get the 9-7 winner over Elliott and Adam Pinaski. Jonathan Collins and Davis outlasted Sullivan and Andrew Tobar 8-5 and Gwin found his second win of the day when he complemented Tyler Moore to get the 7-5 victory over Sam Smith and Martin Hollybrook.
