Over the last four years, Audrey Hamilton has traveled the world, bringing with her a camera and a photographer&8217;s eye for detail. The results of her travels are culminating in an exhibit to be displayed at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital&8217;s main hallway.
Hamilton said she has been honing her photography skills for the last 10 years, and only recently made the transition from traditional 35 mm to digital.
Eudora Welty and Dorthea Lange are just a few of the photographers that Hamilton has come to enjoy and respect in honing her craft.
With these two women as a jumping off point, Hamilton set out to portray both her own experiences traveling in India, Isle of Man, England, Ireland and Guatemala as well as their specific cultures and societies.
Hamilton has lived in Demopolis almost six years and teaches English at Demopolis High School and speech at the University of West Alabama. She is originally from North Alabama and earned her bachelor&8217;s degree from the Mississippi University for Women.
The opening of The Exhibit will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the BWWMH main hallway.
