DEMOPOLIS &8212; On his seventh visit to Demopolis since being elected to state office in 2003, Rep. Artur Davis, D-Birmingham, will speak at the Demopolis Civic Center at 6 p.m. on May 27.
After brief comments, Davis will take questions from the office. The program, which is in the town hall meeting format, is scheduled to run until 8 p.m.
Davis was last in Demopolis to serve as the keynote speaker for the Marengo County Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference in March.
Davis represents the 7th Congress-ional District, which includes 12 of that state&8217;s 67 counties. The district includes Marengo County along with eight other counties in the Black Belt: Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Wilcox. Davis holds annual town hall meetings in all 12 counties he represents.
Davis&8217;s district is unique in that he represents the largest city in the state, Birmingham, and also represents places whose entire county populations that are less than that of Birmingham.
