Quest for Demopolis High School defensive coordinator underway

DEMOPOLIS &8212; In addition to preparing for next week&8217;s kickoff of summer practice, Tom Causey has been at work attempting to find a replacement for Brian Seymore, who vacated the defensive coordinator position last week in order to take over the head coaching job at Andalusia.

Causey, who was unprepared to disclose the names of any potential candidates, did acknowledge meeting with one applicant over the weekend.

Causey reports that his short list of candidates for the vacancy includes some coaches with whom he is familiar and some with whom he has had little to no previous dealings.

According to Causey, the position was posted on the Alabama High School Athletic Association Web site Friday after Seymore&8217;s departure was made public.

While he did not have a concrete target date to have the position filled, Causey did emphasize the level of urgency involved with reaching a decision upon a hire. The new coordinator will need as much of summer practice as possible to become integrated into the system and build rapport with players and coaches.

Causey said that once a hire is made, the primary obstacle that will face the new coach will be terminology..
