Deadline set for hire

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Head football coach Tom Causey expects to have definitive answers regarding his vacant defensive coordinator slot by June 22, the expiration date for the postings of the high school&8217;s two open teacher positions.
Of June 9, the Demopolis City Schools Web site listed two vacancies, a health and physical education teacher position and a social studies teacher.
If Causey is able to locate men that fit his areas of need in terms of coaching are qualified for the open positions, he will be allowed to fill not only the open defensive coordinator slot, but the offensive line coaching space as well.
As for the possibility of adding a third new member to the staff, Causey said that individual would provide assistance on the defensive side of the ball.
However, while he is anxious to get his new staff members in place, the DHS athletic director also understands the delicacy of the situation.
The process of filling out the coaching staff was placed on hold while the board of education waited for official word on the 2008 state education budget.
With the positions formally announced, Causey was able to officially begin weeding through applicants.
Causey hopes an announcement will be made regarding the new hires by June 23.
