Our Opinion: Phone service assistance offers hope for residents

Local residents may have the opportunity to have the luxury something commonly found in most homes across America today, a telephone. Normally, you wouldn&8217;t think something as simple as a phone is something people go without, but for people this is the case.

Programs such as Link-up and Lifeline, which some local phone companies offer, are providing telephone service at a discounted rate or qualified participants. These programs along with other programs are designed to help those in need and have the potential to play a crucial role in the development of the Black Belt area. Residents in need of assistance should take advantage of these opportunities for assistance and seek a luxury of life; they may not realize they could have had before.
