Ask any teen or young adult in Demopolis what the city&8217;s number one flaw is and you&8217;ll likely a recurring response from each and every one: there&8217;s nothing to do.

This week&8217;s neighbor, Josh Jones, is no different.

Jones, a 20-year-old sophomore at the University of West Alabama, was born in Meridian, Miss., on March 30, 1988.

He was raised here in Demopolis for the majority of his life, and although he says he loves the city, it&8217;s missing activities for individuals his age and slightly older.

Jones&8217;s father, Thomas, works for Jennings Ser-vice Company, while his mother is the night shift nursing supervisor at Bryan W. Whitfield Hospital.

Although he worked with his dad last summer at Jennings, he opted for a little lighter-duty work this summer so the small break between fall and spring semester would be that &8212; a break.

The Sugar Shack, operated by Korey Kelley, is a summertime hit in town and Jones has been working there since the blazing days of this Alabama summer came rolling in.

And once school starts back, Jones will be nothing shy of busy.

As an active brother in Sigma Pi Franternity and a percussionist in the UWA Scarlet Band from Tigerland, his schedule will be full. Between meetings, rehersals and classes on top of that, you have a schedule that could intimidate even the most well organized businessman on today&8217;s streets.

Even thought he hasn&8217;t decided fully on a major yet, Jones says he&8217;s leaning towards environmental science.
