DEMOPOLIS &8212; The 12U all-stars routed Sumter County 11-1 Tuesday night at the Sports-Plex, rebounding from Monday&8217;s 10-0 loss to Butler. The win moves the Demopolis team to 1-1 in the District 10 pool play round.
According to players and coaches, the team&8217;s flat performance Monday evening can likely be attributed to multiple factors.
Another contributing factor to the team&8217;s disappointing tournament opener could very well have been the players&8217; slow adjustment to the level of play, a theory that was reinforced by Mangum.
The pitching appeared to have little effect on the team Tuesday as it started off hot and never slowed down, plating 11 runs in three innings, ending the game via the 10-run rule after the top half of the fourth inning.
Tucker led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a round-tripper, one of two runs he scored in the game.
Demetrius Kemp managed a double and scored twice out of the leadoff spot. Mangum also had a double and two runs. D&8217;Metric Howell, William Tutt and Tyler Oates each doubled and scored on the night. Justus Witherspoon and Matt Eicher each plated a run in the contest while John Anthony Morrison added a double.
The team will play
tonight at 7:30 at Scott Park in Linden.
