LINDEN &8212; Linden relied on timely hitting and effective pitching from David Dunn to down Demopolis 5-4 in a battle of previously unbeaten teams in 10U District 10 tournament play.

Linden capitalized on Demopolis miscues to take an early 3-0 lead before Hayden Huckabee launched a solo shot to lead off the home half of the third.

Sellers&8217; squad battled back in the top of the fourth inning on the strength of a rally ignited by a Drew Jones double. Will Webb followed with a single to plate Jones. Caleb Holtzclaw then reached on an error before swiping second base. That series of events set the stage for an Adam Sellers single that scored two runs. Jacob Rodrigues would later rip an RBI-single that scored Mark Joseph Johnson to tie the game.

Dunn, who toed the rubber during the Demopolis rally, rebounded to pitch around an error in the fifth inning before gaining another measure of retribution in the bottom of the frame.

With two out in a tie ball game, Dunn helped himself and his team by stroking a single to push Caleb Broadhead across the plate for the second time in the game and give Linden the 5-4 lead.

He then turned around the following inning and made good on those feelings by pitching through an error and a hit batsman to close the door on Demopolis and move his team to 3-0 in tournament play.

Brad Collins and Thomas Etheridge also scored runs on the night for Linden.

The teams will conclude pool play tonight.
