Valencia LaJoy Robertson married Willie Wells III on May 24, 2008.

The bride is a native of Gallion. She is the daughter of Mrs. Annie Doris Bryant Robertson of Gallion, and the late Mr. Roland Robertson. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sallie Mae Holmes of Blakely, Ga., the late Mr. William Marshall, the late Mr. Elmore Robertson, and the late Mrs. Rosie Robertson. Valencia is a graduate of Amelia Love Johnson High School and the University of Alabama.

She is currently a fourth year student at University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.

The groom is a native of Birmingham. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Willie and Carol Wells Jr. of Birmingham. He is the grandson of Ms. Mack Helen Johnson of Birmingham, the late Mr. Willie Wells Sr., and the late Mrs. Catherine Wells. Willie is a graduate of E. B. Erwin High School and the University of Alabama.

He is owner of Escape GFX Advertising and an insurance claims representative for AmerOne Cooperation.

The wedding ceremony took place at 4 p.m. at Christian Chapel Baptist Church in Demopolis. The officiating minister was the Rev. Fred D. Moore. The bride wore a Mori Lee pearl and silver design. The strapless gown had a sweetheart neckline with embroidery overlaying the bodice. Scattered appliqu/s decorated the shirred tulle, multilayered, floor length ball gown with a chapel train. Valencia carried a traditional bouquet of cascading red and white roses adorned with greenery and love knots.

Additionally, the bride&8217;s favorite flowers, red and white roses, ornamented the church and reception hall.

Andrea Robertson of Tuscaloosa, attended her older sister as maid of honor. The matron of honor was Erica Madden of Birmingham, the bride&8217;s friend and optometry school classmate. The bridesmaids were Jan Gay of Gulf Shores, the bride&8217;s best friend; Shamika Whatley of Cottondale, the bride&8217;s God sister; and Brittney Johnson of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s cousin.

The junior bridesmaids were Zaria Robertson and Daryelle Robertson of Birmingham, the bride&8217;s nieces. The maid of honor wore an Alfred Angelo floor length strapless ivory and claret satin dress with a chapel length train and laced bodice. The matron of honor and bridesmaids wore the same Alfred Angelo design in

champagne with an ivory sash; a pearl and crystal broach bejeweled the waist.

The flower girl was Janae Marshall of Atlanta, Ga., the bride&8217;s cousin. She wore a white tulle dress with a satin claret sash. The mother of the bride wore a bead and pearl embellished champagne ball gown with a bolero jacket by Jovani Couture.

The groom&8217;s attendants were best men Andrew Wells of Tuscaloosa, the groom&8217;s brother; Jason Davis of Clarksville, Tenn., the groom&8217;s best friend; and Brandon Daniel of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s best friend. The groomsmen were Clinton Johnson Jr. of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s friend; Bryan Miles of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s friend; and Clarence Lyons of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s friend.

The ushers were Kelvin Robertson Jr. of Tuscaloosa, the bride&8217;s cousin; Torrey Crenshaw of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s friend; Tommy Wilkins of Leeds, the groom&8217;s friend; and Justin Douglas of Birmingham, the groom&8217;s friend. The ring bearer was Donte Raby of Gallion, the bride&8217;s cousin.

The bride was given away by her brother, Antoin Robertson.
