Quickly, I’ll tell you to take a look at several parts of the Web site today … we’re starting something new, where parts of the site will be updated much earlier in the day. For instance, my column for tomorrow’s editorial page is already up. Obituaries are updated, as are arrests and incidents. This is all part of embracing the new 24-hour news cycle. We want something new on-site every time readers come back. This will also mean filing stories earlier for reporters — and it also means I’ll probably update this blog A LOT.

Last thing, and possibly the most newsworthy on the final day to file for Demopolis municipal elections: Alex J. Robeson, who is a member of the city planning and zoning commission, qualified today to run for the District 2 seat that’s open with Charles Jones Sr. not seeking re-election.

That makes District 2 a three-way race with Charles Jones Jr., Mitchell Congress and Robeson running for the seat. This might be the most fascinating city council race this election season.

Also, as of 4:45, there are no other mayoral candidates other than incumbent Cecil P. Williamson and Mike Grayson.
