LINDEN — The city council here is at full strength again, with a new council member appointed to fill the term of Butch King, who vacated his District 2 seat to fill the void left when Mayor Pat Vice died in office.
The council unanimously selected Sandy Henson to the post. Henson, however, was unable to attend the Tuesday meeting due to an illness in the family.
“We all just felt like Sandy would work well with everyone who is on the council right now,” King said. “We think she will do very well completing this term.”
Henson won’t have long to serve, as Linden’s municipal elections will be held Aug. 26.
In other business, the council selected election officers for municipal elections on Aug. 26.
The chief inspector is Linda Wilson, and the assistant inspector is Dorothy Doss. Clerks are Augustine Woodyard, Dorothy Cooke Watters, Delois Taylor, Joyce Yeager, Jackie Shields, Jacquelyn W. Davis, Barbara J. Tucker, Barbara Walker, Nell Stokes and Oradean Kellum.
