3 local ladies honored by state

The Alabama Department of Senior Services will formally recognize the local ladies later this month for hitting a milestone in their lives.
Nettie H. Bullock, Cora G. Etheridge and Delia H. Polk of Linden, will each be recognized for celebrating a birthday of 100 years or more in 2008 at the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 28 in Montgomery.
The Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will consist of inductions into the 2008 class of the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, honorary awards and special recognition in two categories: couples celebrating their 65th or more wedding anniversary and those who are celebrating a birthday of 100 years or more in 2008.
In addition there will also be six special awards presented to senior citizens for outstanding service in the following categories: Humanitarian, Journalism, Health, Statesman, Outstanding Senior Citizen and Youth.
The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, Sept. 28 in Montgomery at Dalraida Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m.
