Richard Rand of Demopolis and Ceasar Jones of Montgomery are working at replacing the wood shingles on the gatehouse at Gaineswood. The men work with the Alabama Historical Commission. “We have preserved this roof for as long as possible,” Jones said. “Now, it’s time to replace the wood shingles. Our job is to preserve, repair or replace parts of the historical homes of Alabama.”
