Young Miss COTR crowned

Savana Grace Marshall, a fourth-grader from Moundville, was crowned Young Miss Christmas on the River at the pageant held at the Demopolis Civic Center last night.

The pageant featured 46 contestants who are in the third through fifth grade.

Camilla Ruth Tutt, a fourth-grader from U.S. Jones Elementary School, was the first alternate, while Anna Caroline Logan, a fifth-grader from U.S. Jones, was the second alternate. Mary Frances Brown, a fourth-grader from U.S. Jones, was the third alternate, while Peryn Alyssa Mullen, a third-grader from U.S. Jones, was the fourth alternate.

The rest of the top 10 included Ensleigh Kate Etheridge, a fifth-grader from U.S. Jones;

Emily Garrett, a fourth-grader from U.S. Jones; Tristyn Lee Jones, a fifth-grader from Southern Academy; Caroline Overmyer, a fourth-grader from U.S. Jones; and Hannah Kathryn Webb, a third-grader from U.S. Jones.

Marshall was crowned by 2007 Young Miss Christmas on the River Amber Nichol Ray. The pageant was chaired by Erin Burden.

The fourth and final Christmas on the River pageant will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at the Demopolis Civic Center, when the Little Miss Christmas on the River will be announced. The pageant features girls from kindergarten through second grade.
