Advanced Disposal will begin moving their Marengo County operations from Demopolis to Linden next week. Gerald Green, area president with the Advanced Disposal’s Gulf Coast region, said the move will not affect services or jobs.
Advance Disposal has a contract with the city for garbage pick-up.
“We are moving because we have an opportunity to have a facility that better meets our needs,” said Green. “The Demopolis facility was more suited to a freight operation. The building we are moving to will give us the capability to bring our trucks inside to perform maintenance.”
Green also said the move will place them in a more central location for their service area.
“We cover an area as far north as Eutaw down to Thomasville and Grove Hill,” said Green. “We have enjoyed a great working relationship in Demopolis, but need to make the move to provide better service.”
Advanced Disposal announced the move in July.
“This will be a great plus for us,” said Dr. Walter Davis, of the Linden Industrial Development Board, in response to the announcement. “We’re glad to have them come.”
The new site will bring 25 jobs to Linden, and is expected to bring an additional five jobs in the near future with the construction of a transfer station.
With the company’s move, they will be vacating a spot in the south Demopolis Industrial Park on Jefferson Road.
“All of the customer service phone numbers will stay the same,” said Green.
