Gift idea: animal shelter gift certificates

Here’s a unique Christmas idea that is not only a thoughtful gesture, but is something that will benefit others: Demopolis Animal Shelter gift certificates.
“If anyone would like to give a gift to the Demopolis Animal Shelter humane account instead of exchanging gifts, we have little gift cards that they can give to their friends to let them know that they gave something in honor of them,” said Lucille Carpenter of the Demopolis Animal Shelter.
“This could be anything from children exchanging gifts for the teachers or loved one. Just give a gift to the humane account.”
Gift certificates are also flexible, and can be put in a Christmas card or a stocking.
“It doesn’t matter what amount they want to give,” Carpenter said.
People wanting to take part can go to the Demopolis Animal Clinic on U.S. Highway 80 West or the Greensboro Vet Clinic on State Street or bring it to Carpenter at the Animal Shelter on East Jackson Street just past U.S. Jones Elementary School.
“We use that money for spaying and neutering,” she said. “This way, we can get more homeless animals adopted. People just don’t want to pay the whole cost to get the animals spayed or neutered, so this offsets that cost.”
Another Christmas gift idea is to adopt a pet through the Animal Shelter.
“Anyone who wants to adopt a pet should come here and give us a little information and pay a fee,” Carpenter said. “We try to work with everybody, and thanks to this humane account, we can do that a lot easier.”
